Chris Chavez and Katelyn Hutchison recap their experiences and the standout performances at On Track Nights' Los Angeles stop – Sound Running's Track Fest – and the Atlanta City Games. We dive into what made the meets stand out to us, what other meets could learn from them and how they all fit into the rest of the season.
We touch on Sha'Carri Richardson winning the women's 100m at the Doha Diamond League in a world-leading 10.76. She beat Jamaica's Shericka Jackson and Great Britain's Dina Asher-Smith.
Florence Diamond League organizers announced 100m world champion Fred Kerley and 100m Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs will go head-to-head in the 100m on June 2. World championship bronze medalist Trayvon Bromell is also in the field. (A day later, Rabat Diamond League organizers also announced all three as part of their meet on May 28. The Rabat field also includes Andre De Grasse, Ferdinand Omanyala, Letsile Tebogo, Akani Simbine and Yohan Blake.)

Happy Friday! This is the third edition of Track Snacks – a mini series taking you into the weekend where Chris Chavez and a fellow CITIUS MAG staffer share the story of an athlete who they're excited about right now that you can expect to see compete at the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 (July 15–24, 2022).
In this episode, we're actually joined by the actual athlete. Marcell Jacobs is the reigning Olympic champion in the 100m, the reigning 60m world indoor champion and the European record holder in the men's 100 meters. Jacobs was one of the biggest surprises of the Tokyo Olympics when he ran the race of his life to become the first Olympic champion not named Usain Bolt since 2008. He proved it was no fluke by winning the World Indoor Championships in the 60m in a long-awaited clash against 2019 World Champion Christian Coleman. The fans are in for a real treat because they won't have to wait until July to see them go head-to-head again. This week. Prefontaine Classic race organizers announced Jacobs, Coleman, Olympic silver medalist Fred Kerley, Olympic bronze medalist Andre De Grasse, Noah Lyles, Marvin Bracy, Kenndy Bendarek and Ronnie Baker would be part of the deepest 100m race in history. It's the appetizer before the main course at Worlds.

BIG THROWS ENERGY FOR THE BIG THROWS GUYS. Chris, Kyle and Dana unpack the biggest action from the Tokyo Olympics highlighted by Ryan Crouser's mega day where he unleashed six throws that either tied or broke the shot put Olympic record and repeated as Olympic champion. Andre De Grasse finally gets the gold medal that Puma shelled out millions for. The United States' men's 4x100-meter relay team faltered again. Courtney Frerichs went for it and put together the Gutsiest Performance of the Day for a silver in the women's steeplechase.
Also discussed in this episode:
– The semifinals of the women's 1,500 meters were drama-filled and fast
– The men's 800 meter final kind of felt ehhh
– Hansle Parchment's longevity is super impressive in the men's 110m hurdles
– The men's hammer throw isn't as fun when Rudy Winkler isn't winning
– How Chris feels as a member of Team Throwvacs after adding another silver in the men's shot put to Joe Kovacs' career resume
