Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo continued his reign at the World Cross Country Championships, cruising to a third consecutive title in commanding fashion. Ethiopia’s Berihu Aregawi claimed silver for the third time in his career, while Kenya’s Daniel Simiu Ebenyo rounded out the podium with bronze.
In the women’s race, Agnes Ngetich delivered a statement performance, powering to victory to extend Kenya’s streak to 10 straight World Cross Country titles. The 10km world record holder broke clear early and won by 42 seconds, the second-largest winning margin in the history of the championships.

The World XC Championships return to the U.S. for the first time since 1992, with Saturday’s races in Tallahassee offering a chance to reignite global attention on the best distance runners in the world.

In a back-and-forth men’s 3,000m final, it came down to a final kick over the last 200 meters. It was Jakob Ingebrigtsen 🇳🇴 who had the most left in the closing stretch to take the win over Berihu Aregawi 🇪🇹 in 7:46.09. We are FINALLY underway with track and field action at the Paris Olympics.
On this first episode of TORCH TALK (presented by Asics), Chris Chavez, Eric Jenkins, Mitch Dyer, Aisha Praught-Leer and Katelyn Hutchison unpack the first day of action including:
– Uganda's Joshua Cheptegei set a new Olympic record with a time of 26:43.14 to finally get his Olympic gold medal in the event. Ethiopia’s Berihu Aregawi closing hard to snag the silver medal by two-hundredths of a second. Grant Fisher holding on against some titans to run 26:43.46 and become just the 4th American man to medal in the event.
– Team USA's mixed 4x400m relay broke the world record in 3:07.41 in the heats. They could break their own world record again tomorrow.
– Sifan Hassan started her 5000m/10,000m/marathon triple and looks better than we expected for the 5000m.
– We officially got introduced to the repechage rounds with the heats of the 800m and 1500m.
– Germany’s Leo Neugebauer leads the decathlon after Day 1.
– Reigning Olympic champion Valarie Allman topped discus qualifying with 69.59m
– Jamaica’s Shaniecka Ricketts led the triple jump's first round with a 14.47m leap but it was Keturah Orji, who made some history for the U.S. as a three-time Olympic finalist.

Alex Cyr and Michael Doyle scramble the pod mics for an emergency pod that's all about the first medal event of the 2024 Olympic Games, the men's 10,000m.
The race turned out to be among the best distance championship finals of all-time, with an electric finish. Spoiler alert: world record holder Joshua Chepetegei is incredible. American Grant Fisher also delivered the race of his life, and there was heartbreak for Canadian Moh Ahmed.
