The men's 100m in Monaco is absolutely stacked. 🔥 Jordan Anthony, Marcell Lamont Jacobs, Oblique Seville, and Letsile Tebogo headline a field that promises fireworks. Tate Taylor ran 19.75 to win the Prefontaine Classic men's 200m — into a -0.9 headwind, out of lane 3, at 18 years old — beating Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo by 0.18 seconds. Taylor is now the third-fastest U20 200m runner in history, behind only Erriyon Knighton (19.49) and Gout Gout (19.67), and ahead of Usain Bolt's 19.93. He's also the second-youngest ever Diamond League sprint winner, behind Knighton by 66 days. In this video, we break down what actually happened in Eugene and how Taylor's 19.75 compares to Gout's much-discussed 19.67 from earlier this year. Gout's race had a massive tailwind that lifted the entire field — most competitors ran outlier PBs they haven't repeated since. Taylor's race had a headwind that slowed nearly everyone else down: only fourth-place Courtney Lindsay ran within 0.02 of his season best. Using a standard wind calculator, Taylor's run converts to approximately 19.70 in still conditions, while Gout's converts to 19.79. On adjusted numbers, Taylor's run is faster. We also get into the Tebogo storyline. Tebogo has been publicly critical of Gout Gout earlier this season, suggesting the Australian should race age-group meets rather than rush into senior competition. Now Tebogo has been beaten by an even younger American high schooler, in a race where the veteran's own time (19.93) was nearly identical to what he ran in Oslo — where he beat Gout by more than three-quarters of a second. Plus the U20 Worlds preview. The World U20 Championships come to Eugene in August. Taylor and Gout are both expected to compete. Taylor has elite acceleration and dominant top-end speed. Gout struggles off the first 100 and comes home like a train. It's a genuine style matchup, not just a talent contest — the kind of race that defines the next Olympic cycle. The 2026 Prefontaine Classic delivered fireworks on America's 250th birthday. Nikki Hiltz stunned Faith Kipyegon to win the Women's Bowman Mile, raising questions about whether the greatest 1500m runner ever is finally fading. Tate Taylor, a 19-year-old high schooler destroyed a loaded Diamond League 200m field in 19.75 into a headwind — beating Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo. Cam Myers pulled away convincingly in the Men's Bowman Mile, Jamal Britt broke 12.90 for the second straight race in a historic 110m hurdles season, and Sha'Carri Richardson lost a photo-finish Women's 100m thriller to Melissa Jefferson Wooden. Plus: Keely Hodgkinson's struggles continue, Niels Laros withdraws with injury concerns, and World Cup Round of 16 preview.
