Rose Harvey: From the pub to the Olympics!

    May 28, 2026

Rose Harvey is one of British athletics' most extraordinary stories... a former corporate lawyer made redundant during Covid who took up marathon running seriously for the first time at 28. One decision made over a beer in the pub changed her life!

Within a year she had qualified for her first England team, became British Champion at the 2022 London Marathon, represented GB at the World Championships, and running 2:23:21 at Chicago in 2023 to put herself sixth on the British all-time list.

She then competed at the Paris Olympics with a stress fracture in her femur, finishing the race before scans revealed she'd run on a broken thigh bone.

Listen for an incredible story of transformation!

Join The Running Channel Club at https://club.therunningchannel.com/ to meet like-minded runners, get exclusive content and access expert guidance through courses and live Q&As. The Running Channel Meets is where we talk to real runners with incredible stories. Each episode we speak with people who inspire us to run, and give our guests an opportunity to tell their stories, often for the first time. In this episode we chat with Olympian Rose Harvey. Rose ran an outstanding PB of 2:23:21 at the 2023 Chicago Marathon – putting her fifth on the British all-time list – it meant the 31-year-old achieved the unfathomable and qualified to run the marathon for Team GB at her debut Olympic Games in Paris. 4 years prior to this Rose was a corporate lawyer, working late most nights and squeezing runs in when she could. So how does it feel to go from social runner to Olympian? And when you finally achieve the Olympic dream but injury strikes, how do you cope with race day? We ask Rose all of these questions in this episode, as well as asking her what’s next? The Running Channel Meets was born from The Running Channel podcast. Hosted by Sarah Hartley (amateur runner) and Andy Baddeley (former pro runner) alongside Rick Kelsey (recovering runner), the TRC Podcast is friendly, jargon-free, and the perfect accompaniment to your runs.
