Grand Slam Track: Kingston - Gabby Thomas Breaksdown Her 49.14 400m PB To Win $100,000 In Jamaica

The final race of Saturday's action delivered everything — Olympic gold vs. Olympic gold, a fantasy matchup made possible by Grand Slam Track. It was supposed to be a showdown between Gabby Thomas, the Olympic 200m champion, and Marileidy Paulino, the Olympic 400m champion. But Salwa Eid Naser had other plans. The 2024 Olympic silver medalist blew the field away in 48.67 — an eye-popping time for April and a massive upset, as Paulino hadn’t lost a 400m since July 2023. Behind her, Thomas and Paulino battled for second, but it was Thomas who outlasted the Dominican star, clocking 49.14 to Paulino’s 49.35. Despite finishing second in the race, Thomas secured the $100,000 Slam Champion title in the Women’s Long Sprints category thanks to her 200m win the day before and the runner-up finish in the 400m. 📈 Top Results 🥇 Salwa Eid Naser – 48.67 🥈 Gabby Thomas – 49.14 🥉 Marileidy Paulino – 49.35 FOLLOW CITIUS MAG ▶ Subscribe to the podcast: https://apple.co/3Byp72I ▶ On Twitter: http://twitter.com/CitiusMag ▶ On Instagram: http://instagram.com/citiusmag ▶ On Facebook: http://facebook.com/citiusmag ▶ Support us on Patreon: https://patreon.com/citiusmag ▶ On our website: http://citiusmag.com For other inquiries, contact us: chris@citiusmag.com Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, and subscribe! Salwa Eid Naser is BACK and making a statement - 48.67 in the 400m at the Grand Slam Track Meet?! On this episode of The Meet Up, we dive deep into what this performance means for the 2025 season, how it stacks up historically, and what her competition should be thinking right now. Jason and Kevin discuss all the highlights from the first installment of Grand Slam Track including performances from Gabby Thomas, Salwa Eid Naser, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Grant Fisher and Emmanuel Wanyonyi.
The guys also discuss the structure of the meet and potential changes they would like to see to the format.

Chris Chavez, Aisha Praught-Leer, Eric Jenkins and Anderson Emerole unpack all the action from Day 2 of Grand Slam Track: Kingston.
Kenny Bednarek — Mr. 2x Olympic Medal, now Mr. Slam Champion — swept the short sprints and made it look easy. 100m? Win. 200m? Win. $100k? Yes please. Not bad for a weekend in Jamaica.
Gabby Thomas? She didn’t just win. She leveled up. A massive 400m PR (49.14!) — behind only a world-leading time from Salwa Eid Naser — locked down the Women’s Long Sprints crown. Two races. One trophy. Another six-figure payday.
But it wasn’t just the Americans cleaning up. Matthew Hudson-Smith of Great Britain edged out the 400m crew to win the Men’s Long Sprints Slam. Diribe Welteji outkicked Nikki Hiltz to take the Women’s Short Distance title in a spicy 1500m.
And oh yeah — there was that absolutely loaded men’s 1500 field where 800m Olympic champ Emmanuel Wanyonyi stepped up in distance and beat the entire Paris medal stand.
Tonight was the night that we believe fans started to rock with the brand-new league format. Fast, fresh, and fun. It’s a modern take on track with real stakes — and real checks — on the line. And it’s only Day 2.Let’s talk about the money. The medals. The matchups. And why this might be the shake-up the sport’s been waiting for.
