Brooks upgrades the Glycerin to DNA Tuned, which at least nominally makes it the same foam as what is in my favorite max cushion shoe from 2024, the Glycerin Max. But, these shoes are quite different. While the step in comfort and softness of the Glycerin 22 while walking is excellent, it’s not just a shorter stack Glycerin Max. The foams are formulated quite different (or perhaps the different geometries make them feel different, but either way), and Glycerin fans will still love this new update. I like this Glycerin more than last year, but for running, it remains a bit stiff and clunky for my personal preferences (it’s not a bad shoe; it’s just not for me). I suspect that this shoe will continue to be a great option for my bigger taller friends and for run/walkers. It’s going to be great for people who are on their feet all day, for those who want a bit for stability in their max cushion shoes, and for those for whom the Glycerin Max just didn’t quite work.
