Today on group chat we have Kofuzi, Laura Thweatt, and Peter Bromka (and a tiny bit from Matt Chittim).
Episode Rundown:
This wide-ranging conversation features Laura Thweatt, Peter Bromka, Lindsey Hein, and Matt Chittim.
We go through the following with plenty of our trademark tangents:
This weekend we saw an astonishing number of OTQ performances with most them coming from the McKirdy Micro Marathon. We break down the event after two members of our team attended the race and witnessed the unique experience first hand.
We also talk about high mileage weeks, compare those to training done decades ago, and what we can learn from those comparisons.
Also, we have an intense back and forth about acceptable cereals. Truth but told, we inexplicably start the podcast with this topic...
This episode features Lindsey Hein, Laura Thweatt, Tommie Runz, Peter Bromka, and Matt Chittim.
Welcome to the first ever Relay fantasy draft! In this inaugural episode we do a fantasy draft for the this weekend's Chicago Marathon.
In this draft each person drafted five runners of any gender or nationality. The entire field was ours to choose from.
On race day we will do cross country scoring with the top three runners from each time getting points. 1 point for coming in first, 2 for second, and so on. For example, one team has the top male runner, the top female runner, and the second female runner, it would have 4 points.
In this draft we had Tommie Runz, Laura Thweatt, Lindsey Hein, Peter Bromka, and Matt Chittim.
In this episode we do our first Ask-Kara-Anything!
Kara Goucher had a trackside seat to history as she helped call the 2023 Track and Field World Championships for the American broadcast. We couldn't resist peppering her with questions about the event, the top athletes and races, the logistics behind the broadcast, and much more. We even got help from some of our Patreon supporters who also submitted questions.
In addition to Kara, this episode includes Peter Bromka, Laura Thweatt, Tommie Runz, Marcus Brown, and Matt Chittim.

World Championships are now over and we had so much to discuss, including:
Today on Group Chat we are joined by Laura Thweatt, Tommie Runz, Peter Bromka, Marcus Brown, and Matt Chittim. Also, quick correction, when Matt was listing Courtney Dauwalter's 2023 races he missed Trans Gran Canaria and said Canyons/Black Canyon by mistake.
USA XC champion Laura Thweatt talks the marathon and her start in the event, coaching and running XC, deep dish pizza vs. New York style pizza, 90's trends and television, punk rock music, advice that she would pass along to other and younger runners and more.

Everyone loves a good puke story, and we got one here in this episode. Our guest Laura Thweatt (@lthweat) is a Saucony elite marathoner who finished 8th in the New York City Marathon last month. As good as that is, she's an even more awesome person who's super down to earth. It all makes for a great conversation (30:57). The BITR gang also gives sneak peeks at their holiday gift guide and shoes of the year list.
